Illinois patients don't need to wait until after the lock down to get access to a medical cannabis card and it's benefits, including saving on taxes, growing their medicine at home legally and having a caregiver bring their medicine to them. This is essential for pediatric patients, elderly patients and those whose immune systems that are compromised. This temporary change in policy by the State of Illinois will allow physicians to see patients without face to face interaction and will eliminate the risk of spreading the rapid moving virus during the visit.
Educated Alternative has been using a HIPAA compliant platform to see patients in Missouri by tele-medicine since the program opened in July 2019. Executive Director of Educated Alternative, Jose Luis Gonzalez Jr., had this to say:
" I was so happy when we got to Missouri and had this new option for seeing patients open to us. We've been seeing patients in Illinois since 2016 and have always wished there was an easy way for us to reach out to those in remote areas. Even though this is just a temporary measure perhaps the legislators will reconsider their policy permanently once they see the compassionate care we can provide to patients even in the darkest of times. We know that our reputation will make patients comfortable enough to trust us to get them through this process without them having to leave the safety of their homes."
Tele-medicine visits are done on your smartphone, laptop, tablet or any device with a camera and microphone. After seeing the physician you will get a completed physician form to submit with your application to the State. You will also need to scan a few proofs of residency and identity to the State, along with your DD214 or SSI/SSDI paperwork if applicable to receive reduced State fees ***. We'll send detailed instructions for uploading but you can also request a follow up with one of our Advocates to help you with the process remotely.
